Yamanashi Prefecture’s October 23 announcement lists eleven craft categories at Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square through November 5, 2026. The remaining programme is worth reading by date: an exhibition visit and a particular hands-on activity are different plans.
Technique and structure
One listed craft, Koshu inden, combines deer leather with lacquer. In the prefecture’s technical account of urushi-oki, a hand-cut stencil is laid over the leather and lacquer is worked through it with a spatula. The patterned leather is subsequently cut to its final dimensions and sewn into the product. The pattern-making operation and the assembly of a bag or wallet are thus separate stages. This explains a material-and-process distinction to look for at an inden demonstration; it does not identify the method used on every item for sale.
Remaining dates and practical limits
The prefecture schedules Amehata inkstone demonstrations and explanations for October 31–November 1. November 2 has Koshu inden demonstrations and an inden experience; November 3 lists hand-carved seal demonstrations, followed by inden and hand-carved seal demonstrations on November 4–5. These entries should not all be read as workshops.
The venue is at 8-1-22 Akasaka, Minato, Tokyo. Normal hours are 11:00–19:00, with an 18:00 close on November 5. The announcement says anyone may enter, while some making experiences have age restrictions. It directs readers to the venue for activity details; it does not establish an available place on a particular session.
