Tendo announced its Butterfly Stories anniversary exhibition on October 26. The first stop runs October 28–November 10 at Matsuya Ginza’s seventh-floor Design Collection, marking 70 years since the stool’s 1956 introduction.
Technique and structure
Tendo’s manufacturing account describes a veneer surface over seven 1 mm white-beech core sheets, bonded and shaped with heat and pressure. Paired moulded parts are joined with a central brass fitting and two bolt-and-nut sets. That links the curved form to both lamination and assembly, rather than treating it as carved solid wood.
The cushion follows a separate timetable
A made-to-order anniversary cushion uses Sori Yanagi’s Barcode fabric. Ginza’s advance-sale period ends November 10; general sales run November 21–March 31, 2027. The maker warns that delivery takes time.
