Ryusen Hamono’s September 24 announcement describes six knives in its 煌黒龍 改 series. The advance sale was scheduled for October 11 at its Factory & Store. That date has passed; the notice does not establish stock availability today.

Specifications to check before buying

Ryusen specifies Super Gold 2 (SPG2) steel, 99-layer nickel Damascus construction and stabilized birch handles. It lists double-bevel edges, a hardness of 62 HRC and no dishwasher use. These are the maker’s specifications, rather than results of our own cutting or maintenance tests.

The listed range extends from a 135 mm petty knife at ¥67,650 to a 260 mm sujihiki at ¥137,940, including tax. Two gyuto sizes, a santoku and a nakiri complete the six-model lineup. Those are the announcement’s prices, not a current retail quotation.

A regional reference point

Ryusen’s history page dates Echizen blade-making’s designation as a traditional craft to 1979. This is regional context; it does not establish certification or performance for this particular series.
