Ryusen Hamono’s September 24 notice lists the SK04/FR05 Saijiki steak-knife and fork set at ¥124,520 including tax. It announced a limited advance sale at the Factory & Store for October 11. That date has passed, and the notice does not confirm today’s stock.

What the set contains

The knife specification lists VG10/VG2, 70-layer Damascus steel and a hardness of 61 HRC. The fork is listed as SUS304 stainless steel. Both have titanium handles, are made in Japan and are unsuitable for dishwashers, according to Ryusen. The notice offers the utensils together, rather than individually.

How the handles are finished

Ryusen says it heat-treats the titanium handles to create a crystalline pattern, then adds colour by ion plating. The notice presents four colour variants. This describes the maker’s finishing process; we have not tested the coating or the utensils’ performance.
