Hisayoshi Muto’s latest additions to his TsuTsuMu series bring stems to vessels made with glass fragments and urushi. The Yatomi, Aichi artist announced the Mio wine glasses and In brandy glass on October 6, following an October 1 release.

Sizes and construction

The announcement lists Mio at 530 ml for ¥330,000 and 360 ml for ¥275,000; the 340 ml In is ¥275,000. All three prices include tax. Listed materials are glass, urushi and gold leaf.

Muto describes the urushi sections as having no underlying core and being built up through at least 25 applications. His product account explains that lacquer connects the glass fragments, rather than simply coating a complete glass vessel. That distinction concerns construction; it does not establish impact resistance or dishwasher suitability.
