Pile construction is the clearest distinction between the two towel lines in Murakami Towel’s October 8 shop announcement. KYOJI uses a pile weave; KYOCHI uses a weave without pile. The Imabari manufacturer scheduled its first flagship shop in Matsuyama for October 13.
Two ranges, separate later plans
KYOJI was announced in four sizes and 30 colours, and KYOCHI in three sizes and 30 colours. Those counts do not establish the stock of any particular size or colour. No exact fibre percentage is stated here.
The notice describes a handwashing area for comparing the lines and samples washed once, 50 times and 100 times. These are the maker’s planned displays, not tests conducted by this publication. We do not repeat its absorbency or drying claims as independently measured results.
Murakami Towel dates its founding in Imabari, Ehime, to 1927. The proposed shop is at 3-8-7 Okaido, Matsuyama, opposite the castle ropeway station.
Online sales, an exterior vending machine and tax-free service were separately planned for November 2026. The October notice therefore does not establish that those services are operating now. We have not independently confirmed the shop opening or live inventory.
