KAI announced four additions to its Sekimagoroku Kaname kitchen-knife range on October 19, 2026. The expansion spans a 90mm kiritsuke for small preparation tasks, a 165mm nakiri for vegetables, a 225mm serrated knife for bread and a 240mm sujihiki for meat slicing. Those are the maker's intended applications; we have not tested their cutting performance.

| New model | Blade length | Japanese price, including tax |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Kiritsuke 3-sun | 90mm | ¥22,000 |
| Nakiri 5.5-sun | 165mm | ¥26,400 |
| Serrated 7.5-sun | 225mm | ¥30,800 |
| Sujihiki 8-sun | 240mm | ¥30,800 |

The individual official listings identify all four as made in Japan. Each specifies a composite stainless blade combining special stainless cutlery steel with stainless steel, a stainless-steel bolster and a reinforced laminated-wood handle. The inspected specifications do not name a steel grade or hardness, so those properties should not be inferred from the series name.

KAI traces its founding to Seki, Gifu, in 1908. The new models extend a range associated with that blade-making region, while their different lengths and edge forms distinguish their intended jobs. A serrated bread knife and a sujihiki are separate choices in this release, rather than interchangeable names for one model.

The maker's care instructions call for a sponge and neutral detergent after use, followed by rinsing, thorough drying and storage away from humidity. These instructions do not establish dishwasher suitability. We make no sharpening-service promise for the serrated model.
