Used plaster moulds sit behind the origins of HASAMI no WA, an autumn event combining ceramics sales and activities about production. In its October 16 announcement, the Nagasaki ceramic wholesalers’ cooperative schedules this year’s event for October 31–November 3 at Yakimono Park in Hasami.

A production material beyond its first use

The organiser says the event began in 2021 to promote a project in which worn ceramic-forming plaster moulds are crushed and supplied to farmers for soil conditioning. This is the organiser’s account of the project; it does not establish measured environmental or agricultural results.

The announced programme includes ceramic sellers, workshops and an introduction to ceramic production by the prefecture’s ceramic technology centre. A seller’s presence does not by itself identify who manufactured every item on its stall.

Scheduled hours are 09:00–17:00 on all four days. The venue address is 2255-2 Iseki-go, Hasami, Nagasaki. Entry is free, with free parking described as limited in capacity.

Individual stall inventory and workshop places have not been checked. We have not visited the event or inspected its mould-reuse process.
